Fall color is a favorite time of year for many, and October is always my busiest month as a photographer! Bishop, Mammoth Lakes, and June Lake all host plenty of aspens that turn color as the fall temps arrive. This post is about the best locations for fall color near Mammoth Lakes so you can pick one for your next photo session.

Like wildflowers in the spring and summer, the aspen color change is ephemeral. There’s something a little extra magical about such bright beautiful colors that only last a few short weeks. Your best bet is to schedule your session between October 1 – 14, but some years they start the last week of September or reach into the 3rd week of October.
